January 4th vs. Mississauga
The Hawks had a rare treat today being able to actually play a game on the Blue pad. This enthusiasm translated to the ice as Georgina took on Mississauga. Georgina opened the scoring early with a quick rush by Tori's line. After a short scramble in front of the Mississauga net, Tori put the puck behind the red line for our first goal - only 30 seconds into play. Tori's line will prove to be very productive through the game. Our second goal came with 3 minutes to go in the first as Chelsea took a shoot-in from our defence and sent it towards the net to squeak past the Chiefs goalie. Bianca had her chance in the second as she bounded one of the crossbar and sent it careening to the other side of the rink. It wasn't until the third when Chelsea scored her second of the night roughly 4 minutes into the third. The Hawks took a 3-0 win. Assists went to Jillian (2), Shannon, Chelsea, Emma, and Tori.

January 2nd vs. Oakville
Back from a two week break, the Goldenhawks faced a tough opponent for their first ice and initiation into 2009. The first period showed the Hawks lethargy from no school and Holiday fun. By the end of the first period, the Hawks were down 2-0 allowing 4 of 5 shots deep in the slot. It was apparent that Oakville changed tactics in the second period as they closed up the neutral zone to protect their 2 goal lead. With a minute to go in the second, Kate broke through with an individual effort that lead to a shot on net by Nyki and a rebound back to Kate who pushed the puck home. The Hawks started the third down a goal - intent on turning up the jets. However, Oakville turned on the jets as they decided to play offensive once again. Bronte and the defense were on their game in the third and stopped all attempts by Oakville. With 4 minutes to go, Kate started her own rush allowing a line change to occur. Ashley sped forward to help Kate and just as Kate took a shot on net, Ashley pounced on the rebound and buried it in the back of the net. A minute later, a similar effort by Bianca ended with a rebound to Ashley who smacked the puck home. The Hawks found themselves in the Penalty box once again near the end of the game, but this time they held the Hornets away from the zone. The Hawks won a well fought game 3-2. Assists went to Kate, Bianca and Shannon.

December 20th vs. Orillia
Orillia braved the previous night's dumping of snow to play the 2nd and final game with Georgina. Orillia played their second goalie this night and shored up their defence to make if a very different game for Georgina. Georgina equalled their shots from last Sunday's game and managed to hold Orillia to even fewer shots, but nothing was getting through. Orillia clogged the centre and held their defenders back in an effort to stall our attack - and it worked. Our shot diagram shows a progression of penetration into the slot, period over period with Kate and Tori rifling point blank shots in the third, but still nothing. Our lone goal came off of Chelsea's stick in the second during some brilliant 4 on 4 play which opened up the ice and allowed Georgina to play their way. A late penalty in the third by Georgina allowed Orillia to tie the game. The game ended at 1 goal a piece. Jillian got the lone assist. This marks the halfway point of our season still undefeated sporting a 9-0-2 record. The Team Staff would like to wish everyone and their families a very Merry Christmas and Good Luck to our Goldenhawks in the New Year!!!

Peewee B Goldenhawks vote for their Leaders
The Hawks casted their votes this past weekend and the captain victorious for 2008/2009 is Bianca. Following up as Assistants are Chelsea and Jade and for the first time ever, a split Assistant role sees Ashley as our third "Home" Assistant and Brianne as our third "Away" Assistant.
